State Police Drill

Dear School Community,

Today, July 20th from approximately 7:30AM to 10:30AM the Pennsylvania State Police will be using part of Garnet Valley Elementary School in order to train for an active shooter event.  We realize that these types of drills, although incredibly necessary, can cause fear and anxiety. It is for this reason that we wanted to inform school community members, as they can expect to see increased police and emergency services vehicles and personnel throughout the GVES campus. 

There will be NO actual firearms, simunitions or gunshot simulations taking place in the building.  They will be using "Red/Blue Guns" which are molded plastic that have the same specifications to their duty weapons.  They are trained to enter classrooms, large meeting spaces, restrooms and hallways and this will test their skills and ability to think on their feet.
